Where we Stand now
(May 2026)

Avalon Bay still has a purchase and sales agreement on the Bruni Property but as far as we know as of May 2026 there has not been a closing on the property.

Avalon has covertly negotiated a settlement for an undisclosed amount with the three abutters that ICSG chose to put on the appeal that was filed in September 2024. Because of this agreement Avalon was able to get our appeal canceled in the court.

Because the appeal was on behalf of Ipswich Citizens for Sustainable Growth and funded by many dozens of Ipswich Citizens who oppose this proposal and because Avalon negotiated with the abutters without the knowlege of ICSG or our attorneys we are appealing to the court to reinstate the case.

Avalon has asked the court to require a $750,000 bond in order to proceed with our appeal. We are going to request that the court deny this bond request and allow us to proceed with our appeal. Because we feel that the bond request is ludicrous and we hope to have it cancelled we are focusing on raising funds to pay for the cost of the appeal. To do this we are hosting an informational session/fundraiser at Gathr Ipswich, on June 24th. Renowned Ipswich Photographer Dorothy Monnelly is donating a collection of her works from her recent show in the San Jose Museum the proceeds of which will go to our legal costs. And of course we are alway encouraging donations on our GoFundMe page.
